Your children deserve financial support

Some parents balk at the idea of having to pay child support, but this isn't something that should be seen as a negative action. Children are expensive. There isn't any reason why one parent should be left having to cover all of the costs of raising a child that it took two parents to make. We know that child support is sometimes a touchy subject, but it is one that must be addressed.

When you have an active child support case, there are some specific points that you need to remember. One of these is that you have to put your children first. You can deal with the financial challenges that come with being an adult, even if they are uncomfortable. There is absolutely no reason for a child to wonder if they are going to be able to eat just because one parent doesn't want to have to pay child support.

It is easy to fall into the habit of thinking that the money you are paying is going to your ex instead of your children. When this happens, take a few moments to think about all of the things that your ex provides for your children. Here are some questions for you:

  • Does your child have a home to live in?
  • Is your child eating food?
  • Do they have clothes to wear?
  • Are the utilities on?
  • Does the child have school supplies?
  • Do they play sports, enjoy extracurricular activities or have any entertainment available?

As long as your child has life's necessities, you can rest assured that the payments you make to support your child are being used appropriately. If you have any reason to think they aren't, you might need to look into possible options for ensuring they are going to support the child. We can help you learn your options in any child support situation.
